on our 2nd day, we were up for an early reservation at our first character meal at the tusker house in animal kingdom
this was very fun and a great opportunity to meet donald, daisy, mickey, and goofy up close!
the breakfast buffet was pretty good, but buffet's are a bit difficult to manage when you are the only adult traveling with a toddler!
i also found that character meals, although wonderful in many ways, are a bit hectic!
you are trying to enjoy this wonderful meal all the while watching the characters travel through the restaurant and you definitely want to make sure you don't miss their stop at your table!
after we ate, she did get her first birthday cupcake and a birthday song!
after breakfast, we were off to kilimanjaro safaris because i had read that the morning is the best time to go (no wait and the animals are more likely to be roaming around)
molly was super tired from our late night before and her belly was full from breakfast, so she fell right to sleep as soon as we got on the safari jeep!
it was pretty incredible to see all these animals and think we were right in the middle of florida and not africa!
after the safari ride, we boarded the wildlife express train to see rafiki's planet watch
molly loved seeing rafiki!
and, he lead everyone in singing "happy birthday" to her!!!
after that, we went to the festival of the lion king show which was awesome!
she sang all the songs so loud throughout the whole show!
it's her favorite movie!!
when we left the theater, it was POURING down rain! i had packed umbrellas in my bag and we used them, but still got completely soaked! at first i was going to try and wait it out, but it looked like it was going to rain a while so we went back to the hotel
this cut our time at the animal kingdom down to only 1/2 day, so we didn't get to do nearly what i had planned
but, on the bright side we were able to rest and relax back at the hotel and molly was able to take a good nap before our evening entertainment!
