A great tradition to share with kids is the tradition of giving back to others. Whether you choose to give to the local Angel Tree in your mall or give a food basket to a needy family, it is a great lesson for children to be included in these traditions. I have fond memories of my parents supplying 'Santa' for needy family members when I was young who wouldn't have otherwise had any toys on Christmas morning. One Christmas Eve we literally piled the toys in our car and took the toys to their house when the kids went to sleep. It's a great memory.

This is probably one of the best traditions of all. My parents have kept this tradition to this day. Every year they pick a needy family and give them gifts and a gift card for groceries. Truly the real reason for the season!
