This was one of the worst experiences of my life, but the end product is pretty good:
How do you like the stripes? I didn't even like them in 1994 when this wall paper went up.
We tried DIF, but mostly it didn't even budge this wallpaper.
Again, more stripes...what were we thinking?
Mom working on the paper. Notice the wall steamer on the floor. It was the only thing to give us some relief.
After it was all down, the walls were in such bad shape. I had to do a lot of sanding and patching...repeatedly!
The gray primer was very good at hiding some things. Then the red paint went on in the foyer.
The hall is a pretty shade of green.
The kitchen is the same shade of green. (The floors are the next thing to go. They are in terrible shape!)
Our kitchen looked like this for a week. It was terrible not to be able to drink a cup of coffee in the morning.

Ta-Da!
This is what I was really excited about. I bought the picture at the top for mom for mothers day. I just LOVE that saying. In the center you see my parents (I think this was there senior pictures from High School), and then my grandparents are on each side of them. Each picture take around the time they were married. It's very hard to find 2 5x7 picture frames that aren't custom made. Pottery Barn had these. The wall of diplomas...my dad, Eddie, and myself. I have my Bachelors and Masters framed in the center around the guys. Theirs are both from UT (University of Tennessee); Dad--Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Eddie--Doctor of Jurisprudence (Attorney). Eddie has his Bachelors from the University of the South but we don't have that one framed for some reason. Another favorite of mine! This is Madison and Eddie's silhouette we had done at Disney in March. It is so precious, I just adore it. I hope to have Molly's done one day and add it to this wall. Then I want to take them all back when they are teenagers and have another one done.
So as you can see, I've been busy. I've missed blogging, but had so much that absolutely had to get done with the house. Yes, there is still a list...a very long list actually. We still have to do the laundry room walls, the wall area around the kitchen sink, all the white trim and doors need to be painted, and all the carpets need shampooed. I have two more weeks until school starts...can I do it?
For my future reference: The kitchen and hall are painted Ripe Riesling and the Foyer is Roasted Pepper, both from Porter Paint.
